Founder of the non-profit Endangered Alphabets Project. He has spoken about and exhibited his work, especially his carvings of texts in minority scripts, at more than 150 schools, libraries, galleries, museums, colleges and universities in Europe and North America, including Yale, Harvard, Cambridge, and the Smithsonian Institution. He is the author of 18 books, including Endangered Alphabets: An Essay on Writing, The Atlas of Endangered Alphabets, and Endangered Alphabets Word Search Puzzles. Born in England, he has lived since 1980 on the shores of Lake Champlain in the United States.
